Friday Night Lights; Good Book and Movie (WHS Orange & Black)

Friday Night Lights is a tale, based on the true story of the Permian Panthers High School football team. This great tale starts at the beginning of the 1988-1989 Permian Panthers football season. Then it starts to look back on the history of the town of Odessam Texas, where the Permian Panthers are from. Odessa, Texas is a boring little town that really doesn't do a lot. They have their annual Christmas tree lighting at City Hall every year at Christmas time. Everyone in and around Odessa, Texas, have something in common with each other. They love to cheer on the Permian Panthers.

Each year, the Permian Panthers football team are contending for another High School Football Championship and they win most of them. I guess you could call them a football powerhouse. That people stay in line for hours or days to buy tickets. Each game is packed with loud fans. Permian Panther football is an Odessa tradition each season for the whole town.

So follow the ups and downs of this great high school football powerhouse as they go through the 1988-1989 football season. This is a wonderful book not only for high school athletes, but for people everywhere. Trust me when I say, Friday Night Lights will take you to the edge of your seat and keep you there. You can't put it down. I fully recomment it to all high schoolers and even adults that are looking for something great to read. I rate this book, as a five out of five stars all the way.

Friday Night Lights has been made into a full-length movie in 2005 starring Billy Bob Thorton. The critics say that Friday Night Lights is the best football movie since Remember the Titans. So remember, read this great football tale before you watch the full-length movie. You won't regret it, I promise.
