Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in the military? If the draft was reinstated and you have graduated from high school this could become a real possibility for you.
If the draft was to be reinstated and a male or female at least 18 years of age does not register he/she could be punished. Avoiding the draft is punishable of a fine of $250,000 or a six year prison sentence. You are required by the U.S. government to register yourself for the militarty draft. It doesn't mean your number wil be picked to go to the military but you have to register. Some men enter the draft to be trained for real life jobs that are in demand from wars. No one has been prosecuted however for failure to comply since the mid 1980's.
Would you register for the draft? Some high school students are planning going into the military, after they graduate from high school. Senior John Nelson plans on going into the U.S. Air Force. John Nelson said, "I would like to enter the draft if it was reinstated because I am planning on joining the U.S. Air Force anyway after I graduate." He said, "I would feel excited to enter myself in the U.S. draft if it was reinstated."
